The Wretch(The Return only in the Distance)

Help Save Me

Help Save Me From Myself

The Rub of Jack Ketch’s Stranglehold, the Well Weathered Three Strand Twist of Rope,

Tied Around a Denying Heart,  Forever Unrelenting ,

Steadily Pulled Down into a Foggy Morass,  Own Sentencing,

Judge, Jury, and Executioner at The Ready for Years

Layered Guilt, and Self Loathing So Deep and  Under Hard and Rocky Soils

And Time Quells Not The Cold Fears

A Freedom Only a Willingness Away

(To Openly Forgive,  be Able  to Ask Forgiveness,  Make Amends)

Saturday’s View of Churchill Woods

Bright Sun

Dancing Between Lazy White Pillowed Clouds

Atop Blue Skied Canvas

Rays of Brilliant Light, Reflecting Off the Gentle Lapping Water’s Hidden Currents

Bullfrog, Centerstaged on Lillypad

Watches on as Whimsical Dragon Flies Skim Water’s Surface

Canadian Geese Chasing after the Promise of Stale Bread

as Human Observers Crunch Crabgrass Underfoot, Binoculars in Hand

The Poison Ivy Winds It’s Way Up The Mighty Oak, in Shadowed Canopies

as the Cardinals, Wayward Blue Jays, and Smallish Sparrows Trade Songs

Warm Summer Breeze, Wildflowers, Daisies, and Dandelions Dance along Forested Edges

Mother Nature in all Her Summer Glory, Weeks Away from Coming to a Close

as the Days of Fall Inch Closer Still

The Bridge

In The Days and Months Following Your Passing,

Finding Myself Still Staring at the Grave Marker.

The Touch of Fingers to the Cold Marble,

Holding Out for and Wishing for Just One More Touch of Hands, a Wish to Rekindle What Once Was.

Still Unable to Exorcise the Revenant of Times Past.

The Foggy Dreams, a Distant Figure Imploring, a Silent Pleading,  a Beckoning Forward.

Then Two Crossing a Bridge Spanning a Murky Expance, Heading to Opposite Sides,

Turning Briefly, and  Facing Each Other…..

Knowing Smiles are Exchanged, a Silent Knowing between the Two

One of This Life and Time…the Here and Now, and One having Transcended the Shackles of Mortality.

Abrogate Perception Now

Future Holds Bleakness

Liquid Soul Diffused

Empty Spaces Darkness Coat

Impervious Light

Scabbard of Secrets

Scabbard of Secrets

Briefest Reflection, of a Face

Glimpsed Between, Licks of Flame.

Silently Reflected Upon,

the Blade of a Gleaming Dagger.

Lifelong Wish of Excising, a Well Rooted Darkness Within.

And All it Would Take, Is an ever Tempting Twist of the Dagger.

So Sweet

So Close

And Yet,

So Very Far

Beginning to End

The Briefest Glance of a Checkered Life

Where

The Common Low Caitiff

Becomes The Hunted

A Flip of Conscience,

Voices of Unaccounted Innocents

Feed Into the Thunderous Cacophony
