Caged

Captured

prize

thing

object

marginalized

imprisoned

feared

teased

this,

my home….my prison

once

this hunter became

the hunted

fate sealed

inside,

looking out

my story alone

but….

 not where it all started

not

where it was all ever meant to be

but always,

so many eyes

staring

only the night

brings about

temporary peace

only to have the day

start

over….over….over

but,

you cannot ever really know me

truly know

how and what

makes me

tick

can you ever

really

know

how it feels?

these walls

these bars

these years

rage

wild impulse

so far

deep

inside

but

lessons still have not been

learned

1914….2014

how time does indeed rush by

but not all things

change

life is life is life is life

  1. I guess freedom is all in our heads instead of our hearts.
Even so, words have a means of breaking the bars.
It seems that you have ‘captured’ my own sentiments on the subject which though generalised, right now is a deep and heavy weight; an aching wound
