She
reads
the letter
with
a smile
on her face….
just a hint of tears
in
her blue eyes
ever lowering
to the handwriting
on the
page…..
a quiver
through her shoulders
betrays
the normal
air of
stoicism…
she
clutches
both
letter and envelope
closer and closer
to her
heart
these memories
imprinted
on yellowed and dog-eared paper
the dust and smell
of
yesteryear
with just
the
faintest
hint
of his favorite
cologne
the past collides
with
the present
…..of hearts
…..of memories
…..of people
…..of places
……of a time
…..lovers
from
so long ago
