Broken Prose Fragments

Dementia

how I hate you more and more

cruel

It is to make people, gaps of time, life events, and relationships

disappear then reappear

in such an odd order

yesteryear

reappears as if but five minutes ago

while yesterday is gone

as if it never happened

I’m

relegated

to a spot on the sideline

all

that can be offered

…is an ear

…silent sympathy

…and generosity

a middle man

between

yourself and the neurologist

I

can heal

neither the scarring or lesions

of the brain

nor

the physical damage done

from

multiple sclerosis

in the end

 it seems that our roles

have been

reversed

the children becoming

both

the caretakers

and

the caregivers

My Mother’s 25+ year fight continues on…

This lifetime is indeed a strange thing

a

 meandering

line

meeting

all points

between

here, there

everywhere

anywhere

but nowhere

was not

an option

Shattered Lens

wraiths

              of

                               memories

immolation

                  of

                       self

a

                    repetitive

                                        curse

a

               familiar

                                    malady

a

               warped

                                   rhythm

expecting

                    knowing

                                      waiting

to

              forever

                                writhe

                                               in

                                                              mental

                                                                                    anguish

unable

              to

                           forgive

                                               oneself

unable

                to

                             forget

                                             past

unable

            to

                             transcend

one’s

              own

                              chains

                                              one’s

                                                            own

                                                                              bondage
