Be

thoughts of legacies

….what would those be?

what can be given

freely and openly…

…not neccesarily inflicted upon

what could be carried on…

…not neccesarily what would burden

what could speak of the people

of another time?

of another place?

speak of who and what those people

were then,

thoughts of now

…and what we have

become

…and what we could still

Broken Prose Fragments

Dementia

how I hate you more and more

cruel

It is to make people, gaps of time, life events, and relationships

disappear then reappear

in such an odd order

yesteryear

reappears as if but five minutes ago

while yesterday is gone

as if it never happened

I’m

relegated

to a spot on the sideline

all

that can be offered

…is an ear

…silent sympathy

…and generosity

a middle man

between

yourself and the neurologist

I

can heal

neither the scarring or lesions

of the brain

nor

the physical damage done

from

multiple sclerosis

in the end

 it seems that our roles

have been

reversed

the children becoming

both

the caretakers

and

the caregivers

My Mother’s 25+ year fight continues on…

Of

sunsets

and

empty beaches

he contemplates

an

ocean

of

distance

between

them

Broken Prose Fragments

Only

after the formaldehyde

stained walls

were ally

brought

down

only

after the acrid stench

of the countless drying skins

that were left

hanging to dry

in

a silent darkness

in the dregs

of this tannery

The

faceless immigrant workers

whose

broken backs

mental scars

hardened hearts

long ago silent

In

a time of

bare bone wages

Yesteryear’s

common

ordinary

blue collar jobber

100 years

…this place of death

…of the poisonous concoctions

dumped into the Chicago river

Welcome

to a view

of early 1900’s

Chicago

Poetic Fragments

Morning comes soon

a business man

scurries down

the quiet

streets

He

already

in chase

of

the day

ahead

moonlight

soon gives way

to

first daylight

which

soon

illuminates

all

possible

paths and choices

Utopia

Imagine

a day

when

our differences

no longer mattered

race, creed, colour, shape, choices, and past(s)

would…should….could

not

shape our

thoughts, bias, pre conceived notions, prejudices, opinions

…..if

perhaps

we close….our eyes

only

being allowed

to

listen…..without prejudice

with

nothing more

than

our own choice of words, actions, intent

to be held

responsible

for

and judged

by

……until that day

I’ll still dare to dream…..
