Grand swells of the lake, such a deceptive beauty 

How many mysteries do your waters hold?

 

Giving no quarter

How many a skilled mariner’s vessel adorn thine murky bottom?

Price paid in full for braving her storms and squalls

Bright little petals

all reaching out to blue sky

tomorrow’s promise

 

B-

Church bells rang on…on

somber faced patrons marching

when’s the funeral?

 

C-

Yesterday’s soldier

sky, moon, stars, and clouds above

this bench, his abode

when can he ever know peace?

when can his dreams be silenced?

 

D-

Bumping into friends

No longer cyber figments

…..a real voice….gasp!

Those eyes, those hardships

roads wind hither and tither

lonely the miles…..his shoes

This summer morning

sunshine

birdsongs

a book of Basho, Issa, and Buson!

I smile

Hesitation’s pause

 seconds 

like longest hours

chances

there for the taking

but for an ever twirling dance

…uncertainty’s cold paralysis

 indecision

lost moments

 …ticking off

never once halted

time’s staid guardianship

 

alas,

 

the plane of indecision is broken

 

this, the first of many

 

stolen moments
